Porfolio Letter

Dear Portfolio Reader,
It is my pleasure to share my learning experience in the course English 109W with a reader like you. I took the course in 2016 spring which last for around 5 months. It is the course to learn the writing process which involves prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. We are required to utilize it repeatedly throughout the whole semester. Also, we were assigned to write out 3 major essays with the utilization of the whole writing process.
Frankly speaking, it is not easy to go through the course as we had to keep writing week after week, one assignment after one assignment. However, the process enabled me to learn from my peers and my professor since we had peer-review workshops every time before we submitted our assignments. In each peer-review workshop, we exchanged our assignments with our group members and received comments from them. After that, we revised our assignments based on their comments and thereby learned how to write better from different perspectives in terms of grammar, format, and structure.
The assignment that I like most is the writing intensive report. It does not just make me understand the GWAR requirement clearly, but also allows me to share what I learned about the GWAR requirement with my fellow schoolmates.
This course differs from other English writing course in the way of the emphasis of peer-review workshop. Workshops spend one third of the total course time. It makes me recognize that we students actually can learn a lot from each other, not just from professors.
Thank you for your time of reading my portfolio!

Best,
Mei Wah Ho
